The PACE Centre

Over the years Team Ripcor has taken part in four charity rides for our chosen charity The PACE Centre, playing a key role in helping them to raise over £250,000. And this year we’re at it again with team members heading off to Spain in July to ride from coast to coast – Bilbao to Barcelona, 500 miles in 5 days.

So what’s so special about The PACE Centre? Well, as a charity founded in Buckinghamshire in 1990 as a partnership between parents and professionals, it provides intensive learning programmes tailored to the individual needs of children, aged 6 months to 12 years, with motor impairments such as cerebral palsy.

The work of the centre is inspired by the principles of Conductive Education devised in Hungary by the late Dr. Andras Peto. In keeping with the philosophy of Dr. Peto, programmes are designed to encourage children to be actively involved in their own learning. These programmes focus on the integrated development of each child's social, emotional, communication, academic and motor skills.

A word from
Rippers

I didn't know I'd like cycling as much as I do after a chance conversation with Dek about having a go. I didn't know quite how much we would achieve when we created Ripcor. I didn't realise raising money for a worthy cause was going to be as enjoyable and worthwhile as it is. I didn't appreciate quite how many colleagues and friends would support our efforts. Five years and £50k raised in sponsorship later, and I'm beginning to understand… It's all good.
